Functional design
The Beachmere Project’s mastery of functional, practical and inspired living is complimented by the significant emphasis placed on maximizing environmental considerations such as solar orientation, cross ventilation, water conservation, the outlook and lifestyle needs of the owner. The project will produce enough power to support its daily operation, with eco-smart construction to ensure the property has a negative footprint, rendering it totally self-sufficient now and into the future. Both power generation and energy conservation features combine to deliver “net zero” functionality, that is the home will produce more energy than it requires for daily function.
Solar and wind power generation
Some of the key features of The Beachmere Project supporting energy generation and conservation include extensive solar power generation with CSR Solar panels located on the roof. One 4.9kw system is power grid interactive, returning excess power generated to the grid. Whilst another 4.16 kw system is also uniquely combined with a 600kw wind turbine which will feed excess power generated to a battery bank, providing uninterrupted power supply during the event of a power outage, as well as power to a limited number of circuits within the home, saving approximately 9kw of grid power throughout the average day.
Passive eco-smart design
This home is designed to capture all the natural heating and cooling opportunities this beautiful coastal location offers. Open, light and airy when warm, yet deeply shaded, cool and calm during the hot summer month; the passive design features of this home have ensured this home does not waste unnecessary energy on heating and cooling that many Queensland homes sadly deliver. Expansive bi-fold, UV glazed, door and window systems, along with enviro-sealed louvers, masterfully control air flow and direction throughout the home. Others unique design features, such as a floor vents between levels, an operable bedroom wall, sub-floor and ceiling concealed, eco-vans permit the movement of warm and cool air naturally throughout the structure as needed. This feature eliminates the need for extensive heating and cooling of the internal living spaces of the home. So effective is the natural, passive design of this home that the standard item of a ”luxury home”, air-conditioning is not required to maintain a comfortable internal temperature. Considered one of the highest energy demands of the traditional Queensland home, this feature is an outstanding energy saver.
The state-of-the-art KNX Home Automation System eliminates the need for mechanical heating and cooling systems, providing greater opportunities to control air circulation throughout the home. Energy efficient LED lighting also contributes to power savings, creating mood and atmosphere whilst also being light on energy usage.
Energy Conserving, high performing appliances
A state-of-the-art kitchen is very much the heart of the open plan home, located in the northern corner with direct access to the indoor and outdoor entertaining areas and 180 degree views out to the sea. High performance, energy efficient fixtures are at home among stainless steel bench tops and top branded appliances proving a sustainable living environment. This home does not need to compromise on quality, comfort and delivers the latest technology. Seamless integration with a home automation system ensures all these features operate at an optimal level with energy efficient automated control and functioning.
