Poor indoor air quality may cause a range of health effects from mild and generally non-specific symptoms such as headaches, tiredness or lethargy to more severe effects such as aggravation of asthma and allergic responses. In a residential property, poor air quality may be the result of  the chemicals used in the production of such things as paints, adhesives, sealants etc which escape into the air.
Extensive use of low allergen/VOC free products used throughout The Beachmere Project has been a priority. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) can impact adversely on the environment at different stages of the products life cycle releasing solvents and toxic substances during production, application, the service life of the coating and disposal. This includes, but is not limited to paints, adhesives, sealants (floors/joinery ), construction materials such as plasterboard, versilux, villaboard, laminex, blinds, caesar stone bench tops.

IMG_3341Resene paints has forged the way in delivering new products that eliminate harmful elements. Products which were once widely used in the production of paint, such as arsenic, lead, formaldehyde being some of the most notable. Today, less than 8% of the decorative paint sold by Resene is solventborne, while the average per litre VOC levels of Resene decorative paint sales have dropped by over 90% since 1980, clearly demonstrating Resene’s commitment to proactively develop and launch environmentally preferable waterborne technologies to the market.

Recent publicity has focused on the effect of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions on our environment and our health. Ozone depleting substances previously used in paint production have been attributed to the direct emission of VOC’s from surface coatings, including standard household paints. Paints have been traditionally manufactured using a wide range of organic and inorganic materials. They can contain components that can impact adversely on the environment at different stages of the products life cycle releasing solvents and toxic substances during production, application, the service life of the coating and disposal. These environmental concerns have lead Resene paints to lead the way in developing waterborne replacements for solventborne products

Solventborne paints release significantly more VOCs per litre than waterborne paint. Focused research and development has led to the development by Resene of low odour, low VOC products that are no longer harmful to the environment or the end user. Combine this with Resene’s commitment to managing waste, delivery and collection and recycling of by-prouducts, Resene is the sensible choice for painting your project.

Resene paints...no VOC's

Resene Paints commitment to product development has eliminated the harmful chemicals which were once widely used in the production of paint (arsenic, lead, formaldehyde), improving our air quality and reducing ozone depletion.
