A total of 140m³of concrete was used in the Beachmere Project. This was sourced from Hanson Heidelberg Cement Group, located just 8km from the site. Hanson’s innovative process of using industrial by-products, meant a reduction of over 10 tonne of cement was utilised, saving an estimated 8265 kg of CO2-e. Further to this the concrete supplied used 100% recycled water and the 100% of natural coarse sand was replaced with manufactured sand. This is just one example of the huge environmental cost savings that can be achieved with thoughtful product development and environmentally conscious decision making.
