The CSIRO estimates that the average Queensland home burns 25% of it’s energy on water heating. The Beachmere Project expects its water heating energy usage to reduce this figure to approximately 7%. This has been accomplished by the installation of a split system, solar hot water unit with “off-peak”, electric back-up. To further support the efficiency of water heating; the water pipes are lagged with 13mm Armaflex insulation to ensure heat is not lost in transit to outlets. Installation of a zip tap provides instantaneous boiled, chilled and sparking water for the user, supported by energy saving operation.
